How to Install Bitnami for WordPress on MacOS
A Bitnami for WordPress. You might have heard about bitnami a lot but before getting into the installation process let us give you a brief introduction about it.
What is Bitnami ?
Bitnami is an AMP(Apache,MySQL,PHP) stack application which means it comes with complete web hosting capabilities. When installed it sets up a local web host as well as any other application you want to add. In short bitnami is a simple way to host many open source publishing application including wordpress on your computer.

A Bitnami OS X VM is a better way: For OS X users, Bitnami provides pre-packaged virtual machines (VMs) for automated setup of popular server software. Each VM contains all of the software necessary to run it out of the box. This means that there are no additional libraries, databases, and runtimes to download, and, once installed, the new application or development environment will not interfere with other software on your system.
Normally when you want to launch a wordpress site you need to buy a domain and hosting services and only then you are able launch a website, but if you don’t want to launch a website and are considering to try and test wordpress locally installing bitnami is your best option.
Why install it ?
When you install wordpress locally using bitnami all your website files will be stored on your own computer which means only you will be able to access your website. Its a great way for people starting to learn and make website free of cost,also once you have setup your website locally you can then move it to a live platform.
Lets start by installing bitnami.
It is going to be totally free and we are going to do this in very few simple steps.
Step 1 : Install a software name “Bitnami WordPress”
It is a software which is going to allow us to run WordPress on our computer and you can download it from here.
Once the page is loads click on the “Download for OS X VM” button.

Step 2: Install the Software
Start the installation process by double-clicking the image file and dragging the WordPress OS X VM icon to the Applications folder.

Search the application in spotlight search and then launch the VM by double-clicking the icon in the Applications folder.

Enter your administrator credentials if prompted.

This should launch the OS X VM manager, which includes controls to start and stop the VM, manage services and handle data volumes. Here’s what it looks like:

Click the “Start” button in the “General” tab of the manager. Wait for the status icon to turn green and note the IP address of the VM.

Click the “Go to Application” button in the manager.

This should launch a new browser window and direct you to the front page of your blog with a sample post, as shown below.

Your wordpress website is now running. You can also access the application by launching your Web browser and browsing to the IP address shown in the manager.

To log in to the WordPress dashboard, follow these steps:
Browse to the WordPress dashboard at the URL http://SERVER-IP/wp-admin. Replace the SERVER-IP placeholder with the IP address of the VM as shown in the manager.
Log in with the administrator credentials from the previous step.

You can now login by entering the details we gave during the installation. Once logged in you can start building your site.
