How to Install XAMPP on Mac - Step by Step Instructions

XAMPP is a free and open-source cross-platform web server solution stack package developed by Apache Friends, consisting mainly of the Apache HTTP Server, MariaDB database, and interpreters for scripts written in the PHP and Perl programming languages.

Following are the steps to install XAMPP on your Mac:
  • Download the XAMPP from this link
  • Open & Install the XAMPP (.dmg file)
  • Start the XAMPP Server

Download the XAMPP

Click on the download button for XAMPP & wait for it to complete
Once it’s downloaded, there should be a .dmg file on your local machine

Open & Install the XAMPP (.dmg file)

Now double click on the downloaded file (.dmg file) and it will start verifying
Once this is complete, there will be a pop-up screen where you can drag and drop the XAMPP to applications folder
And it will start copying the Xampp into the Applications folder

Start the XAMPP Server

The XAMPP is now installed on your local machine. To start it, press Cmd+Space & in the finder type “XAMPP”
Select Xampp Application & press enter. A pop-up will appear to open the application downloaded from SourceForge. Select Open from the dialog box.
The XAMPP application is now opened – Click on the start button to run the application.
Once it’s started, the red status will turn to green & IP address will appear below that.
Copy the IP address & open in any browser.
Your XAMPP Application has been successfully setup on your local machine
